When this project was first introduced, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my zine. I have been wanting to represent this feeling digitally for a long time, and because there are so many pages required this would be a perfect fit. I plan to alternate page styles,
One: simplistic black line work to set a day-to-day scene
Two: a colorful, very busy, collage drawing of the same scene, only the character is listening to music.
I have not yet decided if the character will be me or just one of my portrait style people. I wanted to embody how listening to music throughout my day lightens up my mood tremendously. I have had a connection to music and certain types of songs that just uplift me for a while now. My favorite part of weekdays is walking to class and listening to music, listening to music before bed, while putting laundry away, driving, etc. I want to show how each scene improves with music, different colors resonate with different times and conditions of the day. I think by switching off from simple/no color to in-your-face vibrant chaos will communicate how I feel at those times very well. It also works perfectly with doing half my black and white drawings on Illustrator and the other collage half on Photoshop. My first inspiration photo mocks the cartoon style very well, I want to still include detail so it is just as interesting to look at. The second photo shows the collage style and positioning I would plan to do when representing this world music takes one into.
