The first article I read regarding digital art, “Digital Art Trends for 2024: Stay Ahead of the Curve” written by Mike Tapia, discusses the new emerging technologies for the digital art world. My eye drew to this article because I want to look more into the immersive tools being developed for my future career. This article touched on the use and utilization of Ai, AR, and VR. All new things for digital artists to use to their advantage. Tapia goes into a list of new “trends” in our world and how they are enhancing digital art. He talks about the magical experience of being able to create art as 3D and walk through it, as an experience. This makes “possibilities endless” and encourages digital art to become a more interesting and popular form of art for audiences. I have already experienced these forms in many different ways. I think leaning into these technologies to help such a process heavy form of art could really open up a lot of doors for us. A lot of people think Ai will take away from true art but I think it is already pretty easy to tell the difference between authentic, hand drawn art, and what is Ai. I think if we accept it and work with it, it could be a beautiful innovation for artists. AR and VR are also great opportunities for artists to create an actual “world” of just their art to immerse yourself into. I have always enjoyed using both for fun and it could become a really cool tool for even the film department. Movie theatres with VR features could be a really cool way to make a film feel even more real.

For my second individual reading blog, I chose to evaluate one of my favorite animations on YouTube. This was also the background video for my final projection, so I thought it would be fun to give a review on it and give more context on why I chose it in my final project. I have always come back to this specific animation because it has always inspired my own animations and drawing style. I have a very vibrant choice of color and strange features on characters as well as wanting rapid and trippy movement. This animator perfectly executed all of these things and I aspire to reach his level of animating. My favorite part about this animation is its transitions. It reminds me a lot of our infinite loop lab. He will zoom in or change forms of the subjects by zooming into certain features or having them warp into another object. I also like how fast paced it moves without overwhelming the viewer. It is easy to follow even though it brings your eye all over the map. The scene where the one character is swiping on monster tinder and then matches with the plant lady reminded me a lot of Cartoon Network humor. The whole vibe of his color choices and characters he creates reminds me a lot of Adventure Time, which holds a lot of responsibility for my interests in animation. The introduction to Adventure time and the movement overall in this animation remind me a lot of each other. It's fast paced and absolutely beautiful in the most trippy way, if I had the time to make one of these for the background of my projection project, I would have. But this animation was the perfect steal to finalize the tone I wanted my projection project to have.
