Final Artist Statement:

For this project, I ran into a lot of road bumps and challenges. My brain did not really resonate with Blender as a program, so I started off really slow when modeling my filters. I decided to do a Scarecrow filter where I created a friendly scarecrow face with a hat and then candy corns surrounding him to create that crown shape. When I went to add shading and images onto my shapes, I struggled with making them correctly wrap around the shapes. Once I perfected that part of things, the images did not fully transfer into Effect House. But I decided to embrace the errors and go with it for submitting to Tik Tok. My second filter is a “Creepy Cat” which I also did in the spirit of Halloween. I had a process going when I started to make this one and began to show significant progress in my Blender skills. For my last two I drew out two different creatures/characters that closely resemble my style as an artist, and made those into filters. Those were the biggest hits on my Tik Tok account. My favorite part about this project was seeing my filters up and running and watching people all over the world use/post videos to them. It made me feel really small in a good way, and connected to society. Although I do not think I will ever touch Blender again, I enjoyed the learning curve and experimenting with learning new skills.
